Mary Rivard Rudko - Canadian Artist

About the artist

A very personal statement about art…

Art, for me, is a way of living within the sacred spectrum of colour.

I strive to create work that is intuitive, visually textural, and quietly expressive—

pieces that invite you to slow down and coax you to notice subtle relationships between colour, form, and feeling.

My process is guided as much by instinct as by intention, allowing each piece to evolve naturally as I work toward a predetermined outcome.

I’m drawn to materials and methods that leave evidence of the hand: layered surfaces, softened edges and sharp angles that create moments of quiet contrast.

I can accept that imperfection is a part of the process that makes hand-painted human artwork human

and while I endeavour to portray a meaningful representation of the subjects I create, I acknowledge to myself that those quirky little bits of the improbable
make a work my own.

I believe that these quirks are where the most honest parts of a work live.

My practice is influenced by nature, memory, and the emotional resonance of place. Rather than telling a fixed story, my work is meant to hold space for the viewer’s own interpretation.

I hope each piece offers a sense of calm, reflection, or connection—something felt rather than explained.

All works are created in my studio in Canada. If you’re interested in a piece, would like additional details, or wish to discuss a potential purchase, I invite you to get in touch.

I’m always happy to connect and answer questions.

Art is the place where colour meets emotion and brings quiet beauty to the world. 💌
